Consultancy Agreements You should always enter into a written consultancy agreement with independent consultants, and in particular, if your business is heavily reliant on copyright (i.e. the IT industry). The purpose of a consultancy agreement is three-fold (i) to ensure that the contractor treats your business information in confidence ; (ii) to ensure that all intellectual property rights which the consultant creates are owned by you; and (iii) to provide you with recourse if it later turns out that the work done by the consultant infringes intellectual property rights owned by a third party. |
